What to measure before removing commercial furniture

Measure the furniture and the route it must travel. The longest dimension of a desk is only part of the answer; turns, elevators and door openings decide whether it can leave intact.

Record each large piece

Note height, width and depth for conference tables, cabinets and modular desks. Photograph joints, glass panels and attached components without attempting unsafe disassembly.

Follow the whole path

Measure door clear openings, tight turns and elevator dimensions. Identify stairs, ramps and the vehicle loading point. A large item may fit through one doorway and fail at the next turn.

Flag unusual weight or condition

Heavy stone, glass or metal pieces need a more careful assessment. Tell the provider about damage, sharp edges and whether an item is still anchored.

Send a short removal brief

Include item counts, dimensions, floor, elevator or stairs, parking/loading location and preferred date. That helps the provider assess the job before committing to a plan.
